Introduction

After I took some photos or I collected some pictures, I always wished if I could make some notes on the every picture, so that I can remember them, but I could not keep up to do so. Some friends of mine always write beautiful descriptions for their photos they have taken. They enjoyed every time they review their pictures. When the scanner and digital camera introduced to the market, now we are able to store the digital photo images on the computer. After I made over a hundred pictures, the same question reminded me, if I could have some descriptions with my pictures. I also wanted if I could easily find the picture I wanted on my computer. I thought to use database, then I wrote the first simple program to manage my photo image collection on my computer. The program did some basic things, but it was very helpful. I could store text data for my pictures. I was able to easily find any picture I was looking for. I could preview the picture and launch the graphics application to load the picture for to edit or to print it.

The current version of the Photo Image Management program does very much complicating jobs than it did before. The following figure shows the great idea of what it can do. It is complicating, powerful, but it is very easy to use.

You will store your pictures by simply dragging and dropping the selected pictures to the folder. You can store your picture one by one and type in the Title, the Description, and the Made By for the picture. The Creation Date will be read from the picture by the program, and some other data will be generated by the program for the picture. You also can select multiple pictures and drag and drop them to the folder at once. Then you will add descriptions for those pictures any time you want by using the Edit that provided by the program.

You have two views to review the pictures you stored. The Data List view lists the data you inputted for the pictures. The Thumbnail view gives you a quick look of stored pictures. If you click on the 'View/Edit/Print Image' button or double click on the picture of the preview window, it will launch the graphics application (your chosen application) and load the picture for viewing, editing, or printing.

Paying slide show with your own chosen music is the fun part provided by the program. It lets you show your photo image collections to the people. You can play the show on the window or on the full screen. You can play the show continuously to automatic stop at the end of last picture or play repeatedly. You can play the show manually frame by frame. You can play the show forward or backward. You can place to any position you want to start to play the show. You can choose any number of music you want to play with your show. You can turn on or turn off the music any time you want.

There are many other things you can do with the program, such as to print hard copy of list or gallery of your photo image collections, e-mail your chosen images to the people, make the web page with your chosen pictures for your web site, and ...

The most complicating, important part the program provided is the folder tree that lets you organize your stored pictures in the folders under different categories / folders. You can do all kind of things with the folders, such as cut, copy, paste, or delete folders. You place pictures to the folder by cutting or copying the pictures from the 'UNORGANIZED' folder or from the another folder, then paste to that folder. One picture can belong to several categories. For example, there is a picture taken on the trip to the Disney World for my son and my wife. So this picture should be categorized to 'Travel' and 'Family'. Under the 'Family' category it can belong to 'John', 'Lisa', and 'All of US'. This is what the program provides the way to categorize the pictures.

As I mentioned above, this program was developed several times with the several versions. It provides a great tool for me to manage my photo image collections. Now I introduce the program to you. It will help you to manage your computer images. This program can run under all versions of Microsoft Windows, Win95, Win98, WinMe, WinNT4.0, Win2000, and WinXP.
